Wakaaranga School has marked 50 years since it opened in Farm Cove.
“Since opening in 1976, our school has grown into the vibrant and thriving community we know today,” principal Caroline von Sierakowski told families.
The school held its jubilee celebrations on Tuesday 30 June.
“While Wakaaranga School officially turns 50 in July, we will be celebrating this special occasion on Tuesday, 30 June,” von Sierakowski said beforehand.
The programme included an open afternoon from 1.30pm to 2.45pm for past and present students, staff, families and community members.
“Our Jubilee is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the past 50 years, celebrate the people and achievements that have shaped our school, and reconnect with generations of students, staff, and families who have been part of our journey,” von Sierakowski said.
She said visitors would be able to tour the school, see what it looked like 50 years on, and learn about its history.
In the lead-up, the whole school gathered on the field for a photograph.
“There was a real sense of excitement and connection as we captured this moment in our school’s history, and one that will no doubt be looked back on with pride for years to come,” von Sierakowski said.
“Fifty years of learning, connection, growth, and community is something truly worth celebrating.”
Wakaaranga School is on Butley Drive in Farm Cove.
