The Howick & Eastern Post is a community newspaper for the Howick Ward of East Auckland, published by Howick Media Limited.
We report on the four subdivisions of the Howick Local Board area — Howick, Pakuranga, Botany and Flat Bush — covering local government, schools, business, community life, sport and the people who make the East work.
Why we exist
We started the Howick & Eastern Post because local people deserve an independent news source — one that reports the news promptly, fairly and in a balanced way, without fear or favour. We are not beholden to the people, businesses or organisations we cover, and no existing relationship shapes what we choose to publish.
We also believe advertising in your own community newspaper should be affordable. Local businesses and organisations should be able to reach their neighbours without paying big-city rates, so we price our advertising for the East.
And we believe the Eastern communities deserve a paper that comes to them — delivered right into homes and letterboxes across the East, so local news is always within reach.
That is the mission behind every edition.
In print and online
The Howick & Eastern Post is a fortnightly tabloid newspaper. Our first print edition is published in September 2026. Between editions, this website carries the news as it happens, so you never have to wait a fortnight to find out what is going on in your neighbourhood.
Our patch
Local Board and Council coverage is our strongest beat. Decisions made at the Howick Local Board and Auckland Council shape roads, parks, housing and services across the ward, and we hold that ground closely so residents know what is being decided in their name.
